Information we process
Groundwork processes account information, company workspace records, estimates, customers, projects, equipment, time records, uploaded plans and photos, bookkeeping records, support communications, and technical records needed to operate and secure the service.
Connected bank accounts
If a company owner chooses to link a checking or savings account, Groundwork receives the financial institution name, account display name, masked last four digits, connection status, and transaction dates, descriptions, amounts, currency, and status. Groundwork does not receive or store online-banking usernames or passwords, full bank account numbers, or routing numbers.
How linked bank data is used
Linked bank data is used to import transactions into the company's private bookkeeping workspace so authorized users can review, categorize, match, reconcile, and prepare bookkeeping records. Groundwork also uses provider identifiers and transaction updates to prevent duplicate imports and flag corrections for review. Groundwork does not use linked bank access to initiate payments or transfers, and does not sell linked bank account or transaction data or use it for advertising.
Stripe Financial Connections
Groundwork uses Stripe Financial Connections to provide bank linking and transaction updates. Groundwork requests permission to access transaction data for the accounts the company owner selects. Stripe and the connected financial institution process information under their own terms and privacy practices. Learn more in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
How other information is used
Other information is used to provide the service, authenticate users, save company records, process subscriptions, prevent abuse, maintain backups, troubleshoot problems, and improve reliability.
Public website analytics
With your permission, Groundwork uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity on the public marketing website to measure page visits, conversion events, and website usability. These services are not loaded inside signed-in customer workspaces, proposal links, or invitation flows. Contact-form content is explicitly masked from Clarity recordings. You can turn analytics on or off at any time using Cookie preferences in the site footer.
Payments
Subscription checkout and billing management are handled by Stripe. Groundwork receives billing identifiers and subscription status but does not store complete payment-card numbers.
Company workspace access
Workspace owners control invitations and roles. Authorized members of the same company may access information, including bookkeeping and linked bank transaction data, according to their assigned permissions.
Service providers and disclosures
Groundwork shares information with service providers only as needed to host, secure, support, or process the service. Groundwork may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or another person's rights.
Storage and retention
Workspace records, including imported bank transactions, are stored in the Groundwork database and private backups. Information is retained while needed to provide the service, maintain bookkeeping history, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. Disconnecting an account stops future imports and requests revocation of Groundwork's provider access, but it does not automatically delete transactions already imported into the company's books. Backups may retain prior copies for recovery until they expire under Groundwork's backup practices.
Your choices
A company owner may disconnect a linked bank account from the Bookkeeping workspace. You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information by contacting Groundwork. Some information may be retained where required for security, billing, bookkeeping integrity, backup integrity, or legal obligations.
